Today was a great opportunity to take our stored recyclables and head on down to Sammy's Recycling Center! At 3:00 PM, we departed and we arrived at about 3:30 PM. First, we got all our plastic bottles, glass bottles, and cans out of the trash bags and into the container bins. We even brought an iron to recycle! We were expecting that they would not take it, but they actually accepted not the iron itself, but the cable! What a surprising turn of events! After filling all the container bins, the workers took the bins to the weighing station to weigh it on their scale. We had about 2 bins full of recyclables and we earned 8.58 dollars in cash! We predicted that the cable would be the most profitable, but it turns out that the plastic bottles earned the most money!
Here's a simple way to earn community service hours! Put all your recyclables in your car, and drive down to your nearest recycling center! They will weigh your items and give you money in return! We encourage you to donate this money to CHEER so we can buy new trail cleaning supplies such as gloves, trash pickers, safety gear, and more!
