Our Goal
This project helps to build a connection between the African American and Chinese American communities.
Important Information:
For elementary school kids (1st-6th grade, but others are also welcome)

9:00-9:30 Chinese Kongfu (Alex Ni):
Inspired by Jackie Chan and Jet Li, Alex Ni started learning wushu (kung fu) when he was 6. He is a World Kung Fu Champion in barehand and double broadsword. Alex is a Junior World Wushu Champion, having won the long fist and straight sword events in Brazil in 2018, and he placed 5th in the world among professional men in the spear event in Shanghai in 2019. Alex will be teaching non-contact / non-combative elementary kung fu forms through Zoom.
9:30-10:20 Chinese Culture (Albert): This class mainly helps kids delve into the world of Chinese culture where they will get to learn about traditions and influential people.
10:30 - 11:20 Coding (Owen): In this class, students will be using Scratch to help them learn more complex computer languages as they become more familiar with commands, functions, and programming.
11:30- 12:05 Speech and Debate (Angela): Students will be exposed to different speech and debate events while developing a basic understanding and crucial speaking skills.
12:10 -12:25 Mental Math (Jerry): The skills that students learn will help them solve math equations faster as they learn divisibility rules, easy addition tricks, subtraction tricks, and tips.
12:30-1:30 Lunch (Kembe)
All classes after lunch are optional. No maximum number of students for the afternoon activities
1:30-3:00 Breakout Rooms:
Games: Clash Royale with Justin (will include other games), Minecraft with Benjamin, and Among Us with Zydon (9+)
Arts and Crafts:
The Illustration of Harry Potter Characters (Hannah and Gianna)
Origami and Art (Olivia)
*Students may pick which activity(s) they would like to engage in
3:00-4:00 Chess for beginners and intermediates (Richard, Noah, and North Hollywood HS Chess Team): This class will cover basic chess principles.

Minecraft: Minecraft Java Edition (preferable)
Note: All gaming classes during Social/Game time will require campers to have a digital device for them to play on. If they do not have one, they will be moved into one of the two art classes.
